See British Television |

Depending on where you live in Denmark, it should be possible to see the following programs using a sattelite dish and receiver:
BBC 1 ITV 1 ITV 2 ITV 3 ITV 4 |
Through the years living in Denmark, I've heard it said so many times, that the things us expats miss most, is the pub culture and the telly. On another link on this website, you can see a list of British/Irish style pubs in Denmark. This leaves "the telly". Even though many of the programs on Danish Television are British or American, it is always nice to be able to sit back and enjoy some of the series that run on the telly "back home". Only a small percentage of British programs are aired on Danish television and thus the vast majority of programs are unavailable to us expats. However, it is possible to see British television without having to invest in expensive cable packages. For an initial outlay of approx. kr.1000,- it is possible to see about 5 of the mainstream British channels (depending on where you live in Denmark and the sattelite signal strength). The instructions, below, were supplied by a good friend living here (a Dane married to an Englishwoman) and are not meant as professional instructions, but more as a guideline. Thanks Brian. No guarantees but it is certainly worth a try (and the system works !).

400. Instructions: The dish has to be aimed at 28.2 degrees east (Astra 2D) Don't expect to see all the channels sent by Astra with this set up. Astra relays many programs, the most of which are coded by BskyB. It should also be noted that the signal is aimed at the UK and therefore it is a weaker signal that reaches Denmark. Mount the dish using a spirit level to ensure accuracy. On the back of most dishes are markings which show degrees of elevation. Aiming the dish correctly is crucial. The elevation necessary from different parts of the country are: North
Jutland
:

up The dish should be aimed south-east. approx 158 degrees for West Jutland. 161 degrees for Copenhagen. 164 degrees for Bornholm. There

correctly: Experience has showed that, the larger the dish is, then the better the signal will be. In North Jutland it is possible to see the channels listed on the left hand column of this page using an old 90cm dish and an old receiver. Good Luck And Happy Viewing.
